F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Bracknell Town produced a fine performance to win 6-0 against Carterton in the last round. Libby Suchley scored twice, with one apiece from Michelle Turner, Elly Maggs, Tracy Marlow and Angela Barton to give the Robins a home tie with Acton Sports Club in the Third Round Qualifying.
Acton SC defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 to reach this stage and the club is hoping to emulate last season's feat of reaching the First Round Proper, where they were narrowly beaten by Bedford Town Bells. The club was formed as Chiswick United in 1999 and entered the Greater London League and, under the managership of Linda Fox, won the Middlesex Junior Cup in 2003. In that summer they joined up with Acton Sports Club and its fantastic facilities and have progressed further since then, becoming founder members of the London & South East League and winning the Division One (London) title in 2005-06. Last season they finished runners-up to Lewes in the Premier Division and they have started well this time around in their quest to go one better this season.
One name stands out in the Acton squad - Kim Jerray-Silver who was a full time professional with Fulham and very unlucky not to win more than a solitary England cap. Manager Dave McLoughlin has put together a talented squad overall and other important players include the likes of Claire Stocks, Sue Keeka and Carla Williams.
The match is at Bracknell Town FC and is an intriguing battle between two ambitious clubs who have Combination football in their sights, and should provide a very closely fought game.
