Bristol Academy and Watford sit jointly at the top of the National Division after both sides were held to draws.
Academy hold on to their unbeaten record but they dropped points for the first time this season as they shared four goals with Blackburn Rovers. Captain Natalie Preston sent Blackburn into the interval with the lead, which they held until midway through the second half as Academy were awarded a disputed penalty which was converted by Corinne Yorston. Substitute Dani Ackerman took advantage of a poor clearance to lob home her first goal for the club and put Academy in front for the first time but Katie Anderton drove home the equaliser for Blackburn with three minutes remaining.
Watford meanwhile drew 1-1 at home to improving Cardiff City but needed to come from behind after an early setback. Kelly Isaac gave Cardiff a third minute lead from the penalty spot with Ellen Maggs equalising shortly before half time.
Liverpool claimed their first victory back in the top flight, a 2-1 success away to Birmingham City which takes them into fourth place. Gill Hart scored the only goal for the Reds in the first half and, despite a Gayle Formston own goal levelling the scores early after the restart, Jade Thomas settled the match in Liverpool's favour with twenty minutes remaining.
