Carterton v Stoke Lane Athletic - 16 Sep 2007 - Women's Football NewsF.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Verity Newell scored a hat-trick as Carterton ran out 5-0 winners over Aylesbury United in the Preliminary Round and the Oxfordshire side will be at home once again, to Stoke Lane Athletic.
The girls section of Bristol-based Stoke Lane Athletic was started in 1999 by Steve Power and the club has progressed into senior football. After having finished as runners-up in the previous two campaigns, Stoke Lane won the Gloucestershire County League title last season as well as the League Cup for the third time in four years - becoming the first club to win the League and Cup 'double'. This season they play in the South West League for the first time.
At the end of last season, Steve Power stepped down as manager after eight years and Paul Passaway has taken over the reins, with Ken Alford as Coach. Captain Leanne Ware is a key player in midfield for the young side alongside Chloe Williams whilst speedy winger Kylie Allen and striker Emma Kent will present a goal threat. The game will make Stoke Lane Athletic's debut in the F.A.Women's Cup.
The match takes place at Carterton FC's Kilkenny Lane ground and Carterton are likely to start the game as narrow favourites in what is potentially a high scoring match.
