Watford twice came from behind to record their first National Division victory, a late penalty giving them a 3-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
In the only match played in the division due to World Cup preparations and other international call ups, Natalie Brewer headed Blackburn into a 15th minute lead with Helen Lander equalising two minutes later from an Ellen Maggs pass.
Karen Burke restored Blackburn's advantage with her first goal for the club, on the stroke of half time, but Watford once again battled back after the break with Maggs levelling the scores. With ten minutes remaining, after a period of Blackburn pressure, Watford were awarded a penalty when Lander was fouled and Ashlee Hincks stepped up to score from the penalty spot. Despite renewed Blackburn pressure, Watford held on to take all three points.
Watford manager Sian Williams said after the game: ""I was pleased by the team performance today and it was good to get our first win, however we needed to convert more of the chances we created to take the pressure off ourselves."
