Plymouth Argyle have completed the capture of two more major signings ahead of the 2007-08 South West Combination season.
Hayley Stroud has joined from Premier League newcomers Newquay, whilst former player Claire Harling has re-signed for the Pilgrims after a three-year exile.
The signings bring the Pilgrims pre-season captures to three, with Manager Ryan Thomas still openly admitting to chasing another three first team targets, and approximately five or six more players to bolster the young and successful reserve side.
Harling, a central midfield player with a tremendous passing ability, has previously operated at Combination League level and last played for the club at the end of the 2003-04 season under the management of current Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper coach Geoff Crudgington. She will add to an already talented group of midfielders at the club and hopes to stake her claim for a starting place as early as this weekend's friendly against Cornwall League side Bude Town.
Stroud, a long-time target for Argyle, put pen to paper this week after deciding to leave Newquay following their promotion to the Southern Division of the Premier League. She is a quick and tough tackling full back who will give extra options to the Pilgrims back line ahead of what promises to be a tough season.
commenting on her move, Hayley stated that she was delighted to be joining the ambitious club and said: "Plymouth Argyle can offer me what I need in terms of quality coaching, a high level of football, and a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere where I can enjoy my football as well as inevitably improving. I hope to become an even better player by playing here at Argyle and firmly believe that this is the club to be at.
"The girls at Argyle get on extremely well and I have been made to feel very welcome already. With a blend of youth, talent and experience we have the ability to go far, and I hope I can help them achieve Premier League football next season. I can't wait for the season to get started!"
