Arsenal assist with Sheffield celebrations
 Women's Football News 4 Aug 2007
The UEFA Women's Cup, Premier League, FA Women's Cup and Premier League Cup winners are heading to Dronfield for an exhibition game with Sheffield FC.
Arsenal are currently the best women's team in Europe after enjoying a 100 per cent record in every game they played last season, collecting four trophies along the way.
It is expected that Arsenal ladies will bring their first team on 8th August, including a number of England internationals who will be representing their country at the FIFA Women's World Cup in China this September.
Sheffield FC Ladies, who were formed in 2003, achieved the runners-up spot in the North East League Division One last season, their third top three finish in as many years. The club also reached the quarter finals of the League Cup with a 2-1 extra-time win against Huddersfield Town, who are a league above them and were top of the Premier Division at the time.
The visit of Arsenal forms part of Sheffield FC's 150th anniversary celebrations this year and the fixture will be the ladies' biggest ever game in their short history.
Helen Mitchell, Sheffield manager, said: "Arsenal are the best ladies team in Europe, if not the world right now, so to get the chance to play against them at our ground is an incredible opportunity and a great honour for our players. We all hope it will be a fantastic occasion and one we are looking forward to immensely.
"We hope that girls and ladies teams from across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire will come to the game and watch some of the best players in this country."
Kick off at the Bright Finance stadium is 7pm. Tickets are priced at £3.00 (adults) and £1.00 (concessions) and can be purchased in advance at www.sheffieldfc.com or at the turnstiles on the night of the game.
