![]() This year the tournament was full two months prior to the closing date and organisers have expanded the event to include 54 teams. Once again the tournament has attracted entries from all over the British Isles as well as from other parts of the world with 32 teams returning from 2006, along with FC Flora Talin from Estonia. Three of last year's winners: Everton, Preston North End and Wigan Ladies are back again, keen to hang on to their respective crowns. However, the runners-up from Manchester City, Acton Ladies and the Combined Services (of the Army, Navy and Royal Air Force) are determined to gain some silverware! The Plate Winners from Portsmouth, Bedford Town Bells, Manchester City Res and Troon Ladies all return along with last year's rivals Newcastle United, Rochdale AFC and Kemnay Ladies. The Girls competition is looking excellent with several teams travelling from the USA (Mid City Lady Lions and Wildcats) and Canada (Cowitchan Captivators). The Mini Soccer Girls under-12 competition on Saturday 28th July is full but there still have a couple of places available in the under-16 and under-14 event over the period Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th July.
