Arsenal will play Brondby in the Second Qualifying Round of this season's UEFA Women's Cup as they aim to reach the Final of the competition for the first time. Due to their good record in recent seasons, the Gunners are once again exempt until the second phase and only one of their group opponents is yet known - the Danish Champions who provided eight of the Denmark squad in Euro 2005 including goalkeeper Tine Cederkvist and Catherine Sorensen, who scored the winning goal against England. The remainder of the group will come from First Round winners, the favourites including Russian title winners LADA Toliatti and the ironically titled Arsenal Kharkiv of the Ukraine.
Scottish Champions Glasgow City, who enter Europe for the first time, have not been favoured well as they are in a tough looking group. Saestum of Holland will be the hosts and there is also Athletic Club of Spain - who drew with Arsenal in the group stages last season - and Belgian Champions KFC Rapide Wezemaal. If Glasgow can get through, they face the daunting task of having to play holders Potsdam in the next stage.
Cardiff City have a very tough task if they are to get through their group. Portuguese side Dezembro are the host team but the undoubted group favourites are French title holders Montpellier, whose team should include national captain Sonia Bompastor and striker Hoda Lattaf. Glentoran Belfast Utd of Northern Ireland are the fourth team in the group, the winners of which will also have to face Potsdam.
