Everton have announced the signing of four England internationals as they attempt to force their way into the top half of the National Division this season.
Full back Rachel Unitt and gifted midfielder Fara Williams have arrived from Fulham and Charlton Athletic respectively, as well as Doncaster Rovers Belles duo Jody Handley and Becky Easton, who like Unitt are returning to their former club. Also joining is England under-19 midfielder Michelle Evans, who has moved across the Mersey from Tranmere Rovers.
Mo Marley will now be in charge of the first team with husband Keith running the reserves. He told Women's Soccer Scene: "We're very pleased with these signings. We already had a good squad of talented youngsters but last season we were slightly inexperienced at times, but the experience of the players we have signed should take care of that. I don't believe we could have signed four or five better players for the club.
"The signing of good quality players gives a knock on effect at the club. Although there has been a lot of movement at other teams during the summer, we are probably the only club which hasn't lost a player apart from one to retirement."
Two of the new girls played for Everton as they defeated Aston Villa 4-1 in a friendly at Bentley on Sunday, which included a hat-trick for promising 16-year-old striker Danielle Green.
Meanwhile two of Everton's current internationals, Rachel Brown and Sammy Britton, are both on their way back to full fitness after suffering knee ligament injuries last season. Both players are currently in Iceland, to help with their rehabilitation.
