Farnborough book Trophy final spot

Farnborough's first season reached a new high as the Hampshire County League Division Three side reached the final of the Hampshire F A Trophy with a 2-
Farnborough fully deserved the win with a strong disciplined performance spiced up with two finely crafted goals. It took something exceptional to break down a resolute Varsity defence in a tight, tense encounter in front of another three figure crowd at Boro’s home stadium.
Leah Lacritz opened the scoring with a 25 yard right foot free kick on 37 minutes, placing the ball perfectly in the top left corner.
Varsity battled hard to redress the balance but the home defence was rock solid, covering and clearing everything the visitors tried to create.
Ellie Stalley doubled the lead on 86 minutes with a powerful run, excellent turn to create space and a lofted 20 yard shot into the top right corner, a goal worthy of sealing a Trophy final place.
Varsity set up a tense finish three minutes into additional time through Kayleigh Rogers but Farnborough saw the game out expertly for a fine win.
Having beaten two Division One sides and a Division Two opponent during their run, Farnborough have earned the right to face Division One leaders Bursledon in the showpiece final on May 12th at Hampshire F A's Stoneham Lane complex in Southampton.
